" We initially engaged an architect who had drawn up plans and produced a tender document to send out to a number of contractors. Having had some good recommendations from friends, we ensured that Steve was added to the list.

 

The first thing that struck me was that only two of the contractors actually made an appointment to come and look at the job. It was certainly not a standard build as it involved excavation below ground, building over three floors, and impacting every room in the house. Steve was one of the two.

 

Whilst price is always important we needed someone who we felt would work with us, as we still had to live in the house throughout the build.

What impressed us was that Steve took the time to work through a way of approaching the project such that they started at the back of the property and gradually moved to the front in order to minimise disruption.

 

We had a wide variety of tender prices returned, however Steve was very competitive and due to the willingness to work with us, we had no hesitation in selecting them for the project.

We were impressed that certain preparation works were done prior to the start date, and once work commenced we had the same team on site every day working together to keep on plan.

It’s fair to say that we could not have had worse weather during the 5 months that the team were on site, and occasionally it did mean some late nights and Saturdays being completed to ensure work was on schedule.

 

The team were extremely professional in their approach with all trades pulling together to complete the project on time. All work was off an excellent standard and we would have no hesitation in recommending Steve and the team. "
